DEVELOPMENT DESPITE THE OBSTACLES
The Hellenic Federation of Rugby League is walking on the path
of development.
Men, women and juniors play the sport thanks to the efforts of
the members and staff of the HFRL.
Due to our activity, the Government is going to award us the
sport’s recognition very soon.
Going higher is a one-way route. Any change of our status will
change this route.
H.F.R.L. is an association in action. On-field and off-field.

League juniors and basketball seniors and juniors teams.
DIAS HALANDRIOU Official registered Club. Has Rugby League
juniors and hockey teams.
PROTATHLITIS Official registered Club. Has Rugby League
juniors, hockey, cricket and athletics teams.
IASON Official registered Club. Has Rugby League juniors and
hockey teams.
AOAD, IRAKLIS KALAMATA, ICAROS KALAMATA have played
only friendly matches and intent to play in the development
championship.
ESDT, ATHLESI, ASTERAS and many more teams wait for new
coaches in their areas in order to start playing.
AEOLOS PATRAS and THESSALONIKI LIONS have played
League recently and are in talks with the HFRL Board in order
to join our Federation.
FEDERATION STATUS
The Hellenic Federation of Rugby League was found in 2013
after two years of efforts to establish the sport in Greece.
The HFRL, is officially registered and recognized by the Greek
Courts as a legal Association since 2013.
In 2014 we became members of the RLEF.
Our application to the Hellenic Government to get the sports’
recognition was applied in 2014. Since then we had to face the
Rugby Union Federation actions against us and the huge
bureaucracy that took us so long. The General Secretary of
Sports (Ministry of Culture an Sports) supports our application
and the procedure is coming to an end soon.
Any action against the HFRL, is taking our issue back.
Any action against the HFRL is not an action against our
association; it is an action against the sport in Greece.
The founder of the Hellenic Rugby League Mr. Tasos Pantazidis with
the President of the RLEF Mr. Maurice Watkins and the Secretary
General of Sports Mr. Ioulios Synadinos in the Ministry of Culture and
Sports in Athens.
